About us:

The Albuquerque Newcomers Club (ANC) is a chartered, non-profit corporation of the state of New Mexico. ANC's mission is to give people who are new to Albuquerque the opportunity to meet and develop friendships with others who live in the area via social activities organized by the club. We are here to help all newcomers adjust to their new home and learn more about their community though our networking activities. We have been in existence since 1948!

ANC is a dynamic organization run by its all-volunteer members who donate their time and skills to ensure the club thrives to continue our support to the community.  It is governed by a Board of Directors made up of enthusiastic members in accordance with the Bylaws. Five officers are elected from the Board twice a year to meet and run monthly Board meetings, which are open to the full membership, and to conduct other club business throughout the year.

Membership is open to anyone who has been an Albuquerque area resident for 5 years or less or is experiencing a major transition in life. Our group is young at heart and welcomes both singles and couples. Annual dues of $30 per household are collected to help with routine costs of running the club. We are currently over 200 memberships strong and still growing!

Each month, dozens of activities are scheduled. Members receive a colorful monthly newsletter detailing the date, time, location and directions for the upcoming interest groups and various activities.  With thirty plus individual groups, just name a letter of the alphabet and chances are you may find an interest group to match:  A-Arts and crafts; B-Book Club, Bunco; Bridge, Bowling; F-Fun Day Trips; G-Gallery Hopping; --- and on down the alphabet to O-Outreach to the Community; S-Social Evenings; T-Tennis; W-Walking Groups and Wine tasting.  Don’t see your favorite? Start a new group yourself, advertise it in the newsletter, and folks will come!  A favorite activity is the regular monthly Club Luncheon held on the third Thursday of each month.  This is a time when all members are invited to join together for full club socializing. Featured at the luncheon will be an informative or entertaining speaker arranged by the Board Officers. That event is held at a local hotel or restaurant and is also considered the designated time for the Board to make announcements of club updates or other official news.

If you are interested in finding out how to become a member, please join us at our "Welcome Coffee" held on the first Tuesday of each month at 10AM at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo Del Norte NE (east of Eubank on the south side).  You will find a friendly, casual opportunity to learn more about the Albuquerque Newcomers Club and what we can do for you!  Light refreshments will be served.

We'd love to hear from you.  If you are interested in obtaining more information, please email our membership committee at AbqNewcomers@gmail.com or call (505) 321-6970 to leave a message.

Club Thought: "God give us sympathy, common sense, and help us on with courage high; God give us calm and confidence; and please ----- a twinkle in our eye!"
